South Dakota became the 2nd state to pass a gender affirming care ban for trans youth. The ban has a new and terrifying clause specifying how forced detransitions should happen.
All of the medical boards need to sue these legislators for practicing medicine without a license. The legislators won’t listen to us as individuals, and I know they don’t care about what doctors say either, but lawsuits against the legislators may be a way to halt these bans.
I’m amazed at the hypocrisy! Personal freedom only as long as it fits their interpretation of what’s right for someone else! As a pediatrician for nearly 40 years I can attest that none of the children or their families who made the decision to pursue transitioning did it casually or on a whim and to take that care away would be devastating!
Oh goodness... my 13yo child is already talking about states we can move to - we live in SC. I love my home state for many reasons. However, I am realizing that there may be a time when we will have to move and that scares me. I’m so sorry all of this is happening and wish it would just stop. 😭😭. My thoughts are with these trans kids and their parents going through this reality right now. We see you and are with you.
Should governor Noem sign this bill she will be committing a crime against humanity because that provision is an attempt to hide state promotion of conversion therapy
I’m tired and frustrated. I’m tired of these ghouls watching us beg for our care not to be taking away and flatly ignoring us. I’m tired of the mainstream press who won’t see our struggles as anything but an interesting thought experiment, not a real fight for our lives. And I’m tired of these so called liberals and centrists who still think that if they only find the right set of facts and call Republicans hypocrites enough times that they’ll just HAVE to support trans rights to be ideologically consistent. There is not consistency. It’s just a show of power.

I wonder if you can note what legal efforts are being made in each state you discuss. like maybe the ACLU, The Biden Admin,Lamda Legal,etc etc. So families can be clear about who is fighting these bills. This could help some feel encouraged and know if they can rely on or sustain hope in their states.Or Federally. Thx.
I am curious how these bans will affect HRT by mail services like Folx and Plume. Will these services be outlawed in the affected states? I know testosterone is tricky but estradiol is not a controlled substance AFAIK.

So not only are they banning best practice medical care, but the legislature also believes that they know how to titrate medication.
Protecting parents rights isn't just empty promises, it just doesn't apply to parents of trans kids (or probably any non-conservative parents).
