In the 1990s and 2000s, the "Ex Gays," claimed that being gay was a choice and that gay people were "recruiting" children. Now, political detransitioners are trying the same tactic.

I have recently seen some mention of Keira Bell, who took legal action in the UK against the Tavistock and Portman Hospital as a detransitioner, has recently restarted their transition to male after being used a a political tool against the transgender healthcare for trans youth here in the UK.
I have not been able to confirm this but if it is true it just points to the fact that the anti-trans groups will coerce a young and impressionable person to fight for their cause to harm the trans community as much as possible, whilst not actually caring about the person they are abusing in this way.
Like you say it is the "ex-gay" of the late 1990s early 2000s being regurgitated in anti trans form.
